Songs For Schools Volume I

Songs For Schools Volume I

£39.50

Songs For Schools Volume I is a collection of songs especially written for use in school assemblies or for choirs. The package includes all of the piano scores and musical arrangements. There is also a CD included with the full sung versions for teaching and the full backing tracks for your performances. Go to the section just below to listen to samples of all of the songs.

All of the songs are mini stories with themes that are deliberately thought provoking. The concept behind many of the songs is to raise pupils' awareness about issues both near to home as well environmental issues globally. A few of the songs are especially poignant extracts from one of our recent successful school show - Africa Rocks!, which places the spotlight firmly on the difficulties of young people growing up in Africa.

Great songs for assemblies, choirs and class projects and discussions.

  Track Title
Ou Sont Les Elefants? [2:26]
The Thinking Song [2:42]
I remember as a teacher ...many years ago trying with a group of Year 6 students to come up with a novel idea for an assembly. We hit on the theme of 'thinking' which of course was what we were doing. This led to a discussion about what is thinking? We realised it is querstions arising in the brain and that nearly every thought is in fact a question. We discussed the fact that people are said to think approximately 60,000 thoughts a day but ...most of these are the same thoughts replayed in your head ...mmmh. Fascinating subject which led to some funny stories from the pupils and this song being written in conjunction with them!

Al We Need Is Just Some Rain [3:16]
The Villagers 'cry for help'!

Plant A Tree [2:52]
Woodman spare that tree! Please!

I am The Voice [4:59]
A mantra for bravery and courage! Useful song for pupils in considering how do you deal with what seem like big challenges that you may be facing. Anthony Robbins, a famous American Life Style Guru used a similar mantra in his version of Now I Am The Voice to help a youngster escape from the gangland culture.

Africa Rocks! [3:05]
Just A Little Love [3:38]
As the Beatles said 'All You Need Is Love!' Another awareness raising song to do with helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Great song with a variety of choir parts

I Can't Believe It's Raining Again [4:02]
Time to celebrate - the rains have arrived!

Another Year And It's Christmas Time [3:50]
A great song for your choir at Christmas time. Lots of good harmony lines. Also many schools have used this at Christmas within various Nativity Plays and presentations.

Far From My Home [2:23]
This song is about loneliness. The feelings of being alone ...the world is against you that youngsters can experience from time to time. This song has been used, amongst other things to produce really good discussions in PSHE lessons for all age groups. It is an excellent song for choirs where you are looking for strong solo parts as well as good harmony parts.

  Track Title
Dust before The Wind [5:12]
This is a song about overcoming obstacles in everyday life. It's about not making problems bigger than they are! Back in the 9th century in Japan a Japanese Buddhist named Nichiren Daishonin wrote ...'Whatever obstacles I might encounter, so long as persons of wisdom do not prove my teachings to be false, I will never yield! All other troubles are no more to me than Dust Before The Wind.' (WND, 28)
